The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Nyeri Chapter continues to champion the interests of the local business community through proactive engagement and collaboration with key regulatory institutions.
Yesterday, under the leadership of Chapter Chairman Mr. Ibrahim Ndegwa, KNCCI Nyeri convened a consultative meeting that brought together members of the business community and representatives from various government agencies to address critical compliance issues affecting traders and entrepreneurs across Nyeri County.
The forum provided an open and interactive platform where business owners shared their experiences regarding compliance challenges, including concerns over harassment and unlawful practices by individuals and organizations masquerading as legitimate government agencies. Through constructive dialogue, participants received guidance on identifying authorized enforcement bodies, understanding their rights, and navigating compliance requirements with greater confidence.
The meeting was attended by KNCCI Nyeri County Directors, Sub-County Heads from various KNCCI offices, and representatives from key regulatory institutions, including the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA), and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
A key highlight of the session was a comprehensive sensitization by KRA officials on tax compliance, with particular emphasis on the proper use of Till Numbers, tax obligations, and the importance of maintaining compliance to support sustainable business growth. Participants also had the opportunity to seek clarification on various regulatory requirements directly from the relevant agencies.
The highly interactive discussions enabled businesses to gain practical knowledge while fostering stronger relationships between the private sector and government institutions. Such engagements are instrumental in promoting transparency, enhancing awareness, and ensuring that entrepreneurs have access to accurate information that supports lawful and successful business operations.
